Watch Green Day's - American Idiot Broadway Musical

Watch Green Day's American Idiot: "Broadway Musical"

The show, which is directed by Michael Mayer (who won a Tony for his work on "Spring Awakening," another musical with roots in rock), tells the loose story of love, loss and war first presented in the band's breakthrough 2004 album American Idiot. It pulls together songs from that record as well as their 2009 opus 21st Century Breakdown and features a song the band have never released called "When It's Time."

After a successful run at the Berkely Repertory Theatre and a ton of speculation about its future, the Green Day-penned rock musical "American Idiot" will be coming to Broadway in the spring. The show will begin previews at Manhattan's St. James Theatre (former home of the hit "The Producers" as well as the current home of the critically-acclaimed revival of "Finian's Rainbow") on March 24, with its official opening coming on April 20.

The original cast of the show has also recorded a special version of "21 Guns," the hit single from 21st Century Breakdown, with Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong. They plan on shooting a video for it some time before the big opening.

"Green Day's iconic album is one of the most brutally honest, eloquent, and poetically theatrical responses to the post 9/11 world that I have encountered," Mayer said. "I hear in these amazing songs the frustration and anger and dreams of a lost generation of Americans. Collaborating with Billie Joe and the band has been a mind-blowing thrill from day one."

Living Colour is an American funk metal band haled from New York City. The band was formed in 1983. Stylistically, it's music is a creative fusion influenced by heavy metal, funk, hard rock, free jazz, hardcore punk and hip hop (although frequently tagged "hard rock" act). The lyrics they made ranges from personal to political, in some of the latter cases attacking the Eurocentrism and racism of America. The band were prominent members of the group Black Rock Coalition during the late 1980s and early 1990s (a movement which also featured Fishbone, and 24-7 Spyz).

The band features V. Reid, C. Glover, W. Calhoun, M. Skillings.

Look into my eyes, what do you see?
Cult of Personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you want to be
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
I'm the Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality

Neon lights, A Nobel Price
The mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set me free
I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your T.V.
I'm the Cult of Personality
I exploit you still you love me

I tell you one and one makes three
I'm the Cult of Personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi
I'm the Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality

Neon lights a Nobel Prize
A leader speaks, that leader dies
You don't have to follow me
Only you can set you free

You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You me power in your God's name
I'm every person you need to be
I'm the Cult of Personality

Their debut self-titled album went double platinum and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2003. Robby Pardlo, at that time was in a relationship with Claudette Ortiz, she broke up with him because he has alcohol problem then she married Ryan Toby on October 14, 2004.

City High disbanded in 2003.

Here's one of the songs they became famous for:

Verse 1:
Boys and girls wanna hear a true story?
Saturday night I was at this real wild party,
they had the liquor overflowin' the cup,
about 5 or 6 strippers tryin to work for a buck,
and I took one girl outside wit me,
her name was Lonni, she went to Jr. High wit me,
I said, Why you up in there dancin' for cash?
I guess a whole alots changed since I seen you last
She said,

Chorus:
what would you do if your son was at home,
cryin' all alone on the bedroom floor
cuz he's hungry, and the only way to feed him
is to sleep with a man for a
little bit of money and his daddy's gone,
somewhere smokin' rock now,
in and out of lock down,
I ain't got a job now,
so for you this is just a good time but for me this is what
I call life, mmm

Verse 2:
girl you ain't the only one wit a baby,
that's no excuse to be livin' all crazy,
then she looked me right square in the eye,
and said every day I wake up hopin' to die,
she said-nigga I know about pain cuz,
me and my sister ran away so my daddy couldn't rape us,
before I was a teenager I been through more shit,
that you can't even relate ta...

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3:

what would you do?
get up on my feet and let go of every excuse
what would you do?
cuz I wouldn't want my baby to go through what I went
through
(come on)
what would you do?
Get up on my feet and stop makin' up tired excuses
What would you do?
girl I know if my mother can do it, baby you can do it

Chorus:

hat would you do if your son was at home,
cryin' all alone on the bedroom floor
cuz he's hungry, and the only way to feed him
is to sleep with a man for a
little bit of money and his daddy's gone,
somewhere smokin' rock now,
in and out of lock down,
I ain't got a job now,
so for you this is just a good time but for me this is what
I call life, mmm

Come Back To Me

by David Cook

You say you gotta go and find yourself
You say that you're becoming someone else
Don't recognize the face in the mirror
Looking back at you

You say you're leavin'
As you look away
I know there's really nothin' left to say
Just know I'm here
Whenever you need me
I'll wait for you

So I'll let you go
I'll set you free
And when you see what you need to see
When you find you come back to me

Take your time i wont go anywhere
Picture you with the wind in your hair
I'll keep your things right where you left them
I'll be here for you

Oh and I'll let you go
I'll set you free
And when you see what you need to see
When you find you come back to me

And i hope you find everything that you need
I'll be right here waiting to see
You find you come back to me

I can't get close if your not there
I can't get inside if there's no soul to bear
I can't fix you i can't save you
Its something you have to do

So I'll let you go
I'll set you free
And when you see what you need to see
When you find you come back to me
Come back to me
So I'll let you go

I'll set you free
And when you see what you need to see
When you find you come back to me

And i hope you find everything that you need
I'll be right here waiting to see
You find you come back to me

When you find you come back to me
When you find you come back to me
When you find you come back to me

This song came to me the day after a very depressive night. It was really kind of a weird coincidence that it was playing right when I turned on the tube and switched to the music channel. Come Back to Me is a hopeful farewell kind of song in the sense that your saying goodbye to the one you love who seeks some time alone to search for whats missing in her life and yet you're still hoping that she'll be coming back to you after the much needed absence. I can really relate to this song because, I used to be that guy who believed that things can always be solved together and I always would take it upon myself to stick around and wait for the moment that she'll be okay so I would just be right there, easy to find when she needs me. But as time has proven then and again that this method is a complete bust. I have completely changed my views regarding this matter. I have learned that I should be stronger and more knowledgeable on when to accept the things you have no hold of and just let go and just be patient and wait for the moment when all things will eventually fall into place just like God has planned. Losing the person you truly care about is hard to deal with and letting go is a painful process. But, both is a welcome sacrifice. Especially when you know that giving her up means she could pick up the puzzle pieces of her life to make the whole.
