In the flashbacks, Stefan and Damon recalls the actions made by their father, Guiseppe Salvatore, Pearl and townspeople thats lead to the events that caused the rift in their relationship. In the present, a frightening turn happens during Bonnie's date with Ben. Stefan gets some help from Elena as he and Damon race to seek the missing journal which belongs to Elena's ancestor. Stefan learns the reason behind Alaric's interest in both the journal and the town's history. Damon discovers that an old acquaintance has returned with an agenda he understands.
The series' 13th episode of the season was aired 02/04/2010 Thursday 8:00 PM on CW.
